Gutter Cleaning in Atlanta, Downspouts Included
A gutter full of wet needles weighs far more than it looks, and it overflows behind the fascia in the first hard rain.

Gutter cleaning in Atlanta should mean more than scooping the trough: every run cleared by hand, every downspout flushed until water runs out the bottom, and underground drains checked where they can be reached. We note loose hangers, leaking seams and soft fascia while we are on the ladder, so a clean gutter also drains the way it should.

The job
Why a Half-Cleaned Gutter Still Overflows
Most overflowing gutters we see were cleaned recently, just not all the way. The trough gets scooped, but the downspout stays packed with needles and sweetgum balls, so water backs up at the first corner.
A proper cleaning works from the outlet up: clear the downspout, then the trough, then run water through the whole system and watch where it goes. Anything that still does not drain gets traced before we leave.

Local conditions
Late-Season Storms and Full Gutters
Storm season does not end with summer here. The National Weather Service office covering north Georgia notes that even late-September patterns can bring a few severe storms a day, with damaging gusts and heavy rain, which is exactly when a gutter packed with the first fall needles overflows. A cleaning after the leaves drop, before winter rain settles in, keeps water moving away from Atlanta foundations through the wettest months.
What the work covers
Gutter and Downspout Flushing
Needles, seed pods and shingle grit settle into a wet mat that clogs the outlet first. We clear each run by hand, bag the debris instead of blowing it into the beds, and flush every downspout with a hose from the top until water runs clean out the bottom. Elbows that stay clogged are taken apart and cleared. While we are on the ladder, loose hangers, leaking seams and gutters pitched the wrong way are noted with photos so you know what, if anything, needs repair.

Underground Drain Clearing
Many downspouts feed buried pipe that carries water to the curb or a daylight outlet. When that line clogs, the downspout backs up and the gutter overflows no matter how clean the trough is. We flush reachable lines from the top, check that water appears at the outlet, and clear pop-up emitters. Lines crushed by roots or settling need more than cleaning, and our drain line work covers replacing them. You get photos of where the water stopped and why.

Gutter Guard Cleaning
Guards cut down on cleaning, but they do not end it. Fine mesh collects a film of pollen and grit that sheds water over the edge instead of letting it through, and hoods can collect debris at the nose. We brush mesh clean from the roof side, clear hood noses, and lift a section to check whether anything has worked its way underneath. If a guard is doing more harm than good on a particular run, we will say so and show you why.

Cleaning Gutters Yourself Versus Booking Us
Single-story gutters are a fair weekend job. The trouble starts higher up and at the downspouts.
| Doing it yourself | Having us do it | |
|---|---|---|
| Downspouts | Often left clogged | Flushed until water runs out |
| Second story | Tall ladder on uneven ground | Stabilized ladders and roof access |
| Debris | Blown into the beds | Bagged and hauled away |
| Problems found | Easy to miss | Photographed and explained |
