Storm Damage Roof Repair in Atlanta After Hail, Wind and Falling Limbs
Storm damage rarely looks like much from the driveway. Bruised shingles and broken seals show up on the roof, slope by slope.

Storm damage repair in Atlanta starts with a slope-by-slope inspection, because hail up to an inch and gusts near 60 mph bruise shingles and break seals without leaving anything visible from the ground. We photograph every hit, write the scope the way adjusters read it, meet them on the roof, then repair what the storm actually damaged.

The job
What to Do in the First Days After a Storm
After a storm, two things matter: keeping water out now and documenting what happened before anything is repaired. A tarp goes on first when the roof is open, then the inspection and photos, then the repair.
We repair with the same shingle line where it is still made, whether GAF, Owens Corning or CertainTeed, so the fixed slope matches. When damage runs across most of the roof, replacement is the honest recommendation, and the photos show why.

What the work covers
Wind-Lifted Shingle Repair
Wind damage is usually a creased or lifted tab rather than a missing one. The adhesive strip lets go, the tab flexes in every gust, and a crease line forms across it. Those creased shingles are finished even if they lie flat again. We test the tabs across each slope, replace creased and missing pieces, and hand-seal the course so the next storm cannot peel it back. Ridge caps and rake edges get extra attention because wind hits them hardest.

Hail Bruising Repair
Hail leaves round bruises where the stone crushed the shingle mat, knocking granules loose and sometimes cracking the fiberglass underneath. From the ground it is invisible. On the roof we mark and photograph hits in a test area on each slope, check soft metals like vents, gutters and flashing for dents, and look for granules collecting at the downspouts. Scattered bruising is repaired; widespread bruising across slopes usually means replacement, and the documentation is what lets an adjuster see that.

Fallen Limb Damage Repair
A limb strike breaks more than shingles. It can crack decking, snap rafter tops and tear gutters off the fascia on the way down. Once the limb is off and the roof is tarped, we open the damaged area, replace broken sheathing and cracked framing, then rebuild the underlayment and shingles to match. Interior damage gets photographed from the attic side too, because it belongs in the same claim. Sagging ceiling drywall is flagged before anyone works under it. Our emergency tarping crew handles the first night.
Insurance Claim Documentation
A claim goes better when the damage is recorded before repairs start. We photograph each slope with close-ups of hits and overview shots showing where they are, plus damaged vents, gutters and flashing. The scope lists every item in the terms adjusters use. When the carrier schedules its inspection, we meet the adjuster on the roof and walk the damage together. The claim is yours and the carrier decides coverage; our job is making sure nothing real gets missed. Copies of every photo go to you.

How Often Hail Hits Atlanta Roofs
Hail is not rare here. A June 2025 storm dropped it across Buckhead, Sandy Springs, Brookhaven, Smyrna and Marietta, and warned quarter-size hail returned to the metro in July 2026. Over the last twelve months, forecasters logged 298 storm reports within 25 miles of Atlanta, most between March and August. Many policies set a deadline for reporting storm damage, so an inspection soon after the storm matters more than the date of the repair.

Storm Damage and Claim Questions
As soon as it is safe. Early photos make a stronger claim, and many policies set a reporting deadline.
Yes. Bruised shingles lose granules and age faster, and leaks can start months later.
We document the damage, write the scope and meet the adjuster. Coverage decisions stay with your carrier.
Only if damage runs across the roof. Scattered damage is repaired to match.
We point it out on the roof with photos, and you can ask the carrier for a reinspection.
Yes. Dented or torn gutters belong in the same scope; see gutter repair.
Take your time. Ask for photos of your own roof and a written scope before signing anything.
